Bite force: Grizzly bear
As I expected the grizzly bear had the largest bite force of the three predators. its bite force is equal to 8,000,000 Pascals or 1,160,302 pound-force/square inch [lbf/in squared]. this is enough pressure to crush a bowling ball. probably due to their large heads and muscles located there. even though they do not hunt for dear or elk very often they do fish for most of their meals and the powerful bite prevents the fish from slipping away. it may also be used in aserting dominance between male bears when they fight over territory or a female.

bite force: cheetah
the bite force of a cheetah is about 472 pounds not very impressive for a big cat. this is an average bite force of a domestic dog. i believe that the bite force is so weak because of the small skull and large nasal passages making the skull weaker than most big cats. the cheetah makes up for the weak bite by going after the throat of its prey biting into the wind pipe or slicing arteries in the neck.

Bite Force: Wolf
a wolfs bite force is very strong for both defensive bites and bites to kill. a defensive bite is given when the wolf becomes cornered and is trying fend off the attackers. while a bite to kill is given when the wolf tackles its prey and bites down. the defensive bite force is recorded to be around 406 lbs per square inch while the bite to kill can be over 1,500lbs per square inch. that would be like a VW beetle parked on your throat or arms. i dont imagine that the wolf will have the strangest mainly because they do hunt in packs and can rely on eachother.

weight and size: cheetah
an adult cheetah is the smallest of the big cats weighing in at 35-72 kilograms(77-160lbs) a head and body length of 1.1-1.5 meters and a tail length of .6 -.84 meters. cheetahs are from .66-.94 meters tall at the shoulder. the Cheetah is a small slim and compact big cat built for running at high speed. it has large nostrils for more oxgen intake large lungs and heart to circulate more effectively, semi rectractable claws for traction and its tail is used for balance while making sharp turns.

weight an size: Grizzly bear
an adult male grizzly is the largest of the three predators that I have chosen. weighing in at average of 180-360 kilograms (400-790 lbs) an average length/hieght (when standing on hind legs) of 198 centimeters (6.5ft), (when on all fours) a shoulder hieght of 102 centimeters (3.35ft). the largest of my three predators i expect it to be the winner when it comes to strenght A.K.A bite force. I was expecting it to be the slowest of the three but my research shows that the grizzly would be able to keep pace with a timber wolf. though i have have not found a definite answer my guess is that the grizzly's speed has to do with the muscles in its legs due to a high protien diet. and even though it is not the slowest i think the grizzly will have trouble changing velocity due to its size and weight A.K.A mass.

weight and size: Timber Wolf
Timber wolf size and weight can vary dpending on geographical location. though the North American Timber Wolf is typically 36 kilograms (79lb) but have been known to reach a weight of 79 kilograms (170lb). these measurments are for adult male wolves, females are usually weigh 5-10lb less than the males. the length of a wolf is about 1.016meters to 1.524meters with a 0.762meter-0.8636meter shoulder hieght. the length of the tail is about 2/3 the length of the head and body this importent for the wolf because the tail is used for balance when chasing prey and it need to change direction. the timber wolf is a fairly light and medium sized animal probably making it to an extent fast and agile.

The Grizzly Bear
through my research i have found that the very large and hulking grizzly is amazingly fast for a creature its size. grizzly bears have been clocked at speeds of about 30 MPH and are are able to maintain this as a constant speed for 100 yards or more. many people who observe and study these animals claim that a grizzly would be able to out run most race horses in a 100 yard distance.
I have yet to find an explanation for why these huge animals are able to run this fast.

The Cheetah
most people are already aware that the cheetah is the fastest land animal. it can reach a top speed between 70 and 75 mph, but is unable to maintain that spped for very long, and is able cover about 460 meters in that short time. the cheetah does however have an excellent acceleration time being able to transition from a staionary position to running at a spped of about 64mph in 3 seconds.
The Timber Wolf
the timber wolf aslo know as the gray wolf is a surprisingly fast predator with the ability to run at speed up to 35mph. it can also cover 16ft in a single and maintain a constant speed of about 20mph over an extended period of time. which leads me to believe that the wolf has a great deal of stamina.

predators chosen
the three predators i have chosen to compare are the Timber Wolf, Cheetah, and Grizzly Bear.
I will be doing research on these three predators so I can determine which is the best in terms of physics.
bite force, weight, speed, ability to change direction and flexibilty.
